When it comes to the perfect custom made shirt, Clifton Charles has taken into consideration all the things that actually make a shirt perfect.
The feel, the fit, the fabric and the fabrication.
All the necessary means for creating the perfect shirt for you. One that will flatter you and keep you looking good for a very long time.
Dig deeper and get the background on how we create your perfect shirt.
The perfect shirt begins with the perfect cotton.
In the northern coastal valleys of Peru, the rich soil maintains the perfect moisture and temperature to produce the world’s most prized cotton. Pima cotton.
Known for its exceptional natural fineness, silkiness and long fibers, Peruvian Pima is hand harvested to ensure less impurities and brilliant white shade that dyes beautifully.
The exceptional 1-3/8″ staple length means it is softer, more durable, more absorbent, and more resistant to pilling than other cotton measuring an average of 1/2″ to 3/4:. What’s more, it is non-allergenic.
The inherent qualities of the cotton fibers allow us to spin extremely fine counts and produce incredibly soft, lustrous fabrics for your custom tailored shirt.
The cotton is just the start of our quality. Every Clifton Charles shirt is tailored exclusively to your exact measurements and shares the highest level attention to detail:
Single-Needle Tailoring. Used only on the finest shirts, due to its time consummation, single-needle stitching provides a neater, cleaner look, virtually invisible, and will never pucker, despite multiple
21 Stitches per inch. A tighter stitch means a more durable, more luxurious weave, helping a shirt maintain its original shape.
Hand-sewn. Machines are fine for store bought shirts, but for finer, more exact tailoring, and attention to detail, we prefer to have our shirts done by expert hands.
100 and 120 two-ply. Two-ply fabrics feel silkier and make for a more comfortable shirt because two individual threads are twisted together to make one yarn. It is tightly woven creating a smoother, stronger fabric.
Mother of Pearl buttons. Would you expect anything less?

All of this precision and care, all delivered to you within 10 – 15 business days.
Our measuring process.
Clifton Charles believes that every man is shaped differently, so shouldn’t his shirt be as well? It takes far more than two numbers to create the perfect custom shirt for you. Neck size and sleeve length are just the start. Your physique and body shape differ from every other man. And so, the list of measurements for your shirt includes:
Neck. You may think you bought the perfect neck size off the shelf, but it’s not your exact neck size. Increments of a 1/2 may not be what you need. Get your true neck size, one that won’t choke you or hang loose. Perfect is better.
Sleeve. Your cuff should sit perfectly near the base of your thumb. If it’s too long, it looks sloppy. If it’s too short, it looks wrong. So reach out and get your perfect sleeve length.
Shoulder. The distance between the outer edges of men’s shoulder can vary wildly. A store bought shirt never allows for that variation, assuming that every man with a 17” neck is built exactly alike. We all know that’s not true.
Hips. You don’t want a shirt that’s too narrow in the hips, nor too wide. A custom fit shirt needs to sit perfectly, contouring to the shape of your body and enhancing, or de-emphasizing your lines.
Waist. Important for your shirt as well as your pants. A shirt needs to flatter you and create a perfect ‘V’, no matter what shape you’re in. Custom measurements allow that tailoring.
Chest. You’ve been working out. Or you haven’t. Whatever the case, a custom tailored shirt needs to sit comfortably across your chest, flattering your broadness without pulling or blousing.
Length to Seat. The measurement from the base of your neck to where your buttocks end and legs begin. This measurement insures proper tucking and overall smoothness.
